The Adjacent Possible

The concept of the Adjacent Possible comes out of Stuart Kauffman’s work on biological evolution. Kauffman was interested in how the actual – what currently exists – expands into the adjacent possible, meaning the opportunities suggested by the actual, but which currently lie outside it.
